Vietnam has just finished negotiating a Free Trade Agreement with the EU (EVFTA) at the end of 2015. Together with the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement, the EVFTA is expected to create big impacts on institutions and policies of Vietnam in the coming time, including the Investment.
Investment is among the sectors that the EU is very concerned and insists Vietnam on specific commitments on standards of investment protection as well as legal framework for investment environment. Hence, the Investment Chapter in the EVFTA is massive, including binding commitments of Vietnam in almost all investment-related matters - from investment conditions and procedures to protection for investors’ rights and property and dispute settlement mechanism, etc. Therefore, in implementing these commitments, Vietnam is expected to have to modify and adjust its related domestic laws and regulations.
In preparation for this process, the reviewing Vietnam legal framework against EVFTA commitments on Investment is of great importance. With the support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland in Vietnam, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has conducted a research on Reviewing Vietnamese laws and regulations against EVFTA commitments on Investment.
We will highly appreciate your participation into the conference.
