Vietnam and Denmark establish green strategic partnership

Vietnam and Denmark adopted a joint statement on the establishment of a green strategic partnership between the two countries, during online talks on November 1 between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen.

They noted that the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership will give fresh impetus to strengthening the Vietnam-Denmark Comprehensive Partnership, especially in the strategic cooperation areas such as climate change, energy, environment and green growth.

The two PMs discussed measures to create breakthroughs in bilateral cooperation and to deepen the Comprehensive Partnership and Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern,

Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting friendly relations and cooperation with Denmark, a traditional and trusted partner in the European Union. Bilateral relations have developed positively in various fields after more than 50 years of their diplomatic relations and 10 years of their Comprehensive Partnership.

Denmark has become Vietnam’s leading partner in the field of combating climate change. Two-way trade turnover has increased 1.5 times over the past 10 years, reaching more than US$700 million last year.

Denmark has undertaken many investment projects in Vietnam. Notably the ongoing US$1 billion project invested in Binh Duong by Lego Group has brought Denmark into the Top 25 largest foreign investors in Vietnam.
