Vietnam’s WTO Commitments

The General Council approved Viet Nam’s membership on 7 November 2006. Viet Nam will become the WTO’s 150th member 30 days after it has informed the WTO that it has ratified the accession package domestically.

The Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam applied for accession to the World Trade Organization in January 1995 (document WT/L/1). At its meeting on 31 January 1995, the General Council established a Working Party to examine the application of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to accede to the World Trade Organization under Article XII of the Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the WTO. The terms of reference and the membership of the Working Party are reproduced in document WT/ACC/VNM/1/Rev.23.
