During his recent visit to Malaysia, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi met with Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing cooperation, implementing joint government programs, and exploring partnership opportunities in priority sectors.

The visit aimed to boost bilateral trade in goods and services, enhance economic partnership, and launch the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council.

During the meeting, Al-Qasabi and Ibrahim discussed cooperation between the two countries in facilitating business in both countries, encouraging exports, enhancing the capabilities of Saudi and Malaysian companies to access global markets, and collaborating to build capacities in innovation, emerging technologies, research programs, and e-commerce.

Moreover, Al-Qasabi and Ibrahim participated in the launch event of the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council. For his part, Dr. Al-Qasabi emphasized that the Saudi Vision 2030 has brought about transformations in the Saudi economy.

In addition, he highlighted the close trade relations between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, noting significant opportunities for expansion and diversification as the Kingdom strives to become a global hub for trade and logistical services.

During his two-day visit, Al-Qasabi held a series of meetings with Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir; Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Chang Lih Kang; Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz; Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Chairman Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob; Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Chairman Dato’ Sri Reezal; and Department of Standards Director-General Shaharul Sadri Alwi.
