US–Japan Trade Deal Will Take Effect Soon

As the United States engages with China in trade negotiations, another major trade deal between a key Asian country is quietly nearing its effective date.
Japan finalized a trade deal with the United States earlier this month, and it will take effect on Tuesday. Tariffs on Japanese imports will now match European levels, while Japan commits to buying more American planes, defense equipment, and even rice.
