In a bid to renegotiate trade tariffs, South Africa's Trade Minister Parks Tau held talks with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. The discussions come in the wake of a recent 30% tariff on South African imports, imposed by President Trump.

Parks Tau's meeting with the U.S. trade official was described as cordial and constructive, a sentiment echoed by South Africa's trade ministry. Intensive discussions over three days led to both parties agreeing on a roadmap for future dialogues.

The U.S. Trade Representative's office has yet to comment on the outcome of the talks, which are crucial for Africa's largest economy amidst growing financial challenges.
