Discussion: Countervailing Duty Policies and the Role of the EVFTA in Export Market Diversification
31/12/2025 14In recent times, trade remedy measures—particularly the countervailing duty policies of the United States—have been exerting a significant impact on Vietnam's export goods. Many key industries, ranging from textiles and garments, wood, and steel to agricultural product groups, are facing immense pressure regarding costs and profit margins.
In this context, the need to diversify markets, reduce dependency, and expand export spaces has become more urgent than ever. Consequently, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) is highly anticipated to serve as a "geo-strategic driver" helping Vietnamese enterprises expand their market presence, especially for commodities currently facing risks in the U.S. market.
The panel discussion features the participation of the following distinguished guests:
- Mr. Ngo Chung Khanh – Deputy Director General of the Multilateral Trade Policy Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade
- Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang – International Economic Integration and Legal Expert, Former Director of the WTO and Integration Center, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)
- Mr. Do Ngoc Tan – Deputy Head of the Import-Export Division, Ninh Binh Department of Industry and Trade
