Korea Midland Power Advances SME Exports to Viet Nam

Korea Midland Power has established a foothold for the overseas expansion of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises by targeting key hubs in the local energy market in Viet Nam.
From July 12 to July 18, Korea Midland Power dispatched a market pioneer group consisting of 15 member companies of the ‘Overseas Joint Expansion Council’ to areas including Nha Trang, Vinh Tan, and Ho Chi Minh City in Viet Nam for seven days and five nights.
A total of 31 officials participated in this dispatch, holding export consultation meetings and technology exchange sessions targeting key local power plants, recording a consultation performance of a total of 133 cases and approximately $10.6 million. Among these, the actual potential contract amount reaches $4.71 million, and Hana Welltech, a participating company, agreed to a new contract worth $690,000 with the Vung Ang 2 Power Plant and is awaiting the final signature at the end of July.
The visit to the Vinh Tan 4 Power Plant conducted on July 14 drew significant attention, with the local Vietnamese media outlet Dai Bieu Nhan Dan reporting on it extensively. The Vinh Tan 4 Power Plant side showed high interest in advanced digital solutions possessed by Korean small and medium-sized enterprises, such as boiler tube thermal spray coating, high-pressure valve actuators, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based facility monitoring. Local media expressed expectations that this meeting would not end as a simple visit but would lead to future demonstration businesses and facility improvement projects.
At the technology exchange session held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 17, a large number of working-level officials from power plants that play a core role in the Vietnamese power grid, such as Nghi Son 2, Vinh Tan 4, and Vung Ang 2, attended. These power plants are locations where Korea Electric Power Corporation holds stakes or domestic large conglomerates such as Doosan Enerbility and Samsung C&T Corporation performed the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).
Korea Midland Power further expanded the scope of B2B export consultations by participating in the ‘ELECS Viet Nam 2026’ exhibition. In particular, on July 16, the company achieved the result of GENCO-1 and GENCO-2 proactively proposing meetings, in addition to GENCO-3 under the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN), which was an existing cooperative partner.
Lee Young-jo, President of Korea Midland Power, stated, “This market pioneer group is a meaningful case of supporting the practical export achievements of small and medium-sized enterprises by utilizing the local infrastructure established through overseas businesses.” He added, “We will continue to provide customized support by region centered on core buyers and strongly drive the expansion of overseas markets for small and medium-sized enterprises by dispatching a market pioneer group to Indonesia in the second half of the year and hosting the WETEX exhibition in Dubai.”
