Classification of goods imported into Singapore

Determining the classification (by HS code) of goods is a very important step in Singapore's import procedures. Under the rules of the World Customs Organization (WCO), member countries use the same standardized HS code for the first 6 digits, while the subsequent digits are determined by each country individually and may therefore differ from country to country. Vietnam and Singapore currently both apply the 8-digit HS system under the ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN).

Enterprises may look up Singapore's HS code for imported goods at the following link: https://hscodechecker.gobusiness.gov.sg/.

Enterprises must rely on the detailed description of the imported goods to determine the classification accurately in accordance with Singapore's regulations. If they are uncertain about the classification of their goods, enterprises may contact Singapore Customs for advance classification assistance.
