PR - Samoa has concluded all World Trade Organisation accession bilateral market access negotiations.  


The conclusion was marked by the signing of the services bilateral agreement last Friday at the US mission in Brussels, Belgium.

US Ambassador to the European Union, William Kennard signed on behalf of the United States, and Samoa’s Ambassador to Belgium, Tuala Falani Chan Tung signed on behalf of Samoa.

The US becomes the seventh member of the WTO that Samoa has completed bilateral services negotiations with. The other countries include Australia, Canada, China, the EU, Japan and New Zealand.

Samoa is set to conclude the WTO accession process at the end of 2011 with the accession package expected to be tabled, at the latest, for the consideration of the WTO General Council at the 8th WTO Ministerial Meeting in Geneva in December 2011.
