The UK has been told to shut down Brexit talks with the European Union and walk away with no deal in a move that would see Britain follow World Trade Organisation (WTO) terms, an Express.co.uk poll has found.

Britain formally left the European Union on January 31, with negotiations on a post-Brexit trade deal beginning just under two months later. But talks have shown little sign of making significant progress, and with the transition period deadline on December 31 looming closer, the possibility of a no deal outcome is quickly increasing. If an agreement is not struck by the end of the of this year, trade with the EU will automatically fall back on basic WTO rules.

Now Express.co.uk readers have demanded Boris Johnson end the current negotiations with Brussels.

The poll, which ran from 12.30pm until 9pm on Sunday August 23, asked: "Should the UK walk away from an EU trade deal and leave on WTO terms?"

A huge 95 percent (3,663 readers) said Britain should walk away from the negotiating table with Brussels and leave on WTO rules.

Just four percent (136 readers) disagreed, while the remaining one percent voted "maybe". Only nine readers were undecided - below one percent.
Express.co.uk readers have demanded Boris Johnson immediately shut down the trade negotiations with the EU, claiming a no deal outcome and trading on WTO rules has now become the most attractive option.

One person said: "The EU doesn't seem to be concerning itself too much about arranging a trade deal, does it?

"WTO now seems to be an attractive alternative for trading purposes.

"Our Government should tolerate no more of this behaviour by the EU.
