Chief Executive Officer at Asia Plus Group Holdings PCL Kongkiat Opaswongkarn said that his Group is expected to arrange for a group of large Thai enterprises to visit Vietnam next month to survey and seek out investment opportunities.

He made the statement during a meeting between Thai enterprises and Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh that was held in Bangkok on July 26.

Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh affirmed that now is the right time for Thai businesses to accelerate business and investment activities in the Vietnamese market following the two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh also reviewed Vietnam’s recent economic achievements, noting that Vietnam has successfully controlled the COVID-19 pandemic and is focusing on economic recovery. Vietnam’s economic outlook is very positive according to international financial institutions, despite the impacts of the pandemic and ongoing global crises, Thanh said.

Thanh stated that Vietnam focuses on sustainable development, thereby encouraging FDI sources with high and environmentally friendly technology in various fields.

In addition, Vietnam has joined many free trade agreements (FTAs), including new generation FTAs ​​such as the CPTPP, EVFTA, and RCEP, helping to facilitateconnectivity with regional and global markets.

The diplomat also called for investment in Vietnam in the areas of renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, industrial infrastructure, and environment, among others.

Kongkiat Opaswongkarn affirmed that Vietnam is a bright spot in attracting FDI, especially high-quality FDI sources.

He also presented the plan to arrange for a group of large Thai businesses to visit Ho Chi Minh City to promoteinvestment activities in August 2022. The group is expected to include about 40 Thai businessmen operating in the areas of energy, technology, agriculture and infrastructure.
