Cambodia and Japan have discussed strengthening their bilateral relations in several areas, ranging from trade and investment to labour and establishing the sister city.

On May 2, Lim Lork Piseth, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, accompanied by Tuy Ry, Ambassador of Cambodia to Japan, met with ITO Tetsuya, Vice-Governor of Miyagi Prefectural Government, at Miyagi Provincial Hall, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.

This meeting was a platform to discuss the potential benefits of trade, investment, tourism, and exhibition activities between Cambodia and Sendai, the potential increase of Cambodian labour forces in Miyagi prefecture, and the feasibility study on the formation of a connecting city between Sendai of Japan, and Cambodia’s provinces/cities located by the sea, according to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce.

On May 1, Lim Lork Piseth inspected the construction progress of the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre and Khmer Village in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and met with Mr Takeshi Okami, the representative of Kojima Holdings Co., Ltd, which manages and operates the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre.

Lim Lork Piseth was impressed by the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre in Atsugi, noting its excellent organization and attractiveness. He emphasized its importance as a hub for trade and investment information in Cambodia, and as a platform for showcasing and promoting Khmer products, Khmer food, and traditional Khmer culture.

On occasion, Lim Lork Piseth highly appreciated the efforts of the Cambodia Private Commercial Centre, which has contributed to the promotion of trade and investment activities between Cambodia and Japan and encouraged the centre to continue to organise human resource training, business matching seminars, and facilitate business for Japanese investors who wish to do business in Cambodia.
