India Imposes Five-year Anti-dumping Duties On Select Imports From China, Taiwan, Russia

The government on Thursday imposed five-year anti-dumping duties on imports of aluminium foil, Pretilachlor, and Acetonitrile from China, Taiwan, and Russia after finding evidence of unfair trade practices that caused harm to domestic industries.

The government extended the anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil, ranging from 5.5 to 80 microns in thickness, from an earlier six-month period to five years on shipments from China. A similar five-year duty was imposed on imports of Pretilachlor, a herbicide commonly used in rice and paddy cultivation, also originating from China.

In addition, imports of Acetonitrile, a key chemical used in pharmaceutical and agrochemical manufacturing, will face anti-dumping duties if sourced from China, Taiwan, or Russia.

The move follows recommendations by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), which concluded that these products were being dumped at unfairly low prices, causing material injury to Indian manufacturers.
