(VOV) - The eighth round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan took place on December 8-14 in the southern province of Kien Giang.
The negotiation round was chaired by Minister of Industry and trade Vu Huy Hoang and Minister in charge for Trade of Asia – Europe Economic Committee Andrei A. Slepnhev.
Participated by six working groups, the agenda of this negotiation round focused on trade in goods, service, investment and personal movement, rule of origin, trade remedies and safeguard, custom cooperation and trade facilitation, intellectual property, and legal issues.
Both sides reached a consensus on the main contents of the agreement and agreed to announce the results of basically finalizing the negotiation process. However, some pending technical issues should be tackled soon to prepare for the signing of the agreement in early 2015.
