Vietnam, Slovakia promote cooperation in trade, investment
18/04/2011 141HANOI, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam and Slovakia have many opportunities to promote cooperation in trade and investment, said Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet during a reception held here Thursday for the visiting Slovakian Economy Minister Juraj Miskov.
Both sides have potentials in many fields for expanding cooperation, so the two governments' policies should be transformed into practical cooperative results, the president said.
Triet affirmed Vietnam's support for Slovakian businessmen who visited Vietnam to find opportunities for cooperation and investment and highly appreciated the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries over the past years.
He said that Vietnam received great support and assistance from Slovakian people in their fight for national independence in the past, and now the country wants to strengthen ties and promote cooperation with the Slovakian people.
Miskov said the visit to Vietnam by the Slovakian economics and construction delegation and representatives of major Slovakian companies manifested their desire to consolidate friendship between the two countries, as well as their interest in economic, trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam.
Miskov added that the opening of the Slovakian embassy in Hanoi and Vietnamese embassy in Bratislava expressed that desire. Vietnam is a gateway for Slovakia to enter the ASEAN markets, and Slovakia is ready to be a bridge that connects Vietnam with the EU countries. Slovakia will support Vietnam in its relations with the EU.
He also expressed his hope that practical results in cooperation and investment will be achieved during the visit.
