Vietnam-US two-way trade to double in 5 year’s time
10/05/2011 174VNEconomyNews.com - The Vietnam-US two-way trade is expected to double in the next 5 years, suggested the US Under-Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Mr. Francisco Sanchez.
Based on the bilateral trade growth in recent years, the US official made the prediction when he led a US delegation to pay a recent visit to Vietnam to promote education exchanges between the two nations.
According to statistics, the two-way trade between Vietnam and the US reached US$ 19 billion in 2010, up by 20 per cent year on year.
Vietnamese major exports to the US include garments, footwear and timber products, while the US mainly exports cotton materials, machinery, mechanical equipment and steel products.
During the visit, the US officials also encouraged Vietnamese businesses to take part in business meetings on the sidelines of the APEC Ministerial Forum on Small– and Medium–scale Enterprises, to be held between May 13th-21st in Montana and it is considered to be a good chance for Vietnamese entrepreneurs to seek business and cooperation opportunities.
