The Agency of Foreign Trade has coordinated with Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Centre to create and publish the fourth issue of the EVFTA with Vietnam’s Trade Journal for the 2021 fourth quarter on the topic of the agricultural products.

The EVFTA with Vietnam’s Trade Journal is produced with the goal of assessing the implementation of the EVFTA and the efficiency of taking advantage of the EVFTA for Vietnam's trade. The journal, published in every quarter, assesses the impact of the EVFTA on each key export industry.

The EVFTA with Vietnam’s Trade Journal – the Q4/2021 issue assesses the impact of the EVFTA on the agricultural products (with a main focus on coffee, cashew nuts, rubber, vegetables, pepper, rice and tea products), in which the export of goods is expected to experience growth after the EVFTA comes into effect, and that expectation has turned into reality when the export of those goods to the EU market has recovered rapidly in the first 11 months of 2021, despite the complicated Covid-19 situation.

After more than one year since the EVFTA took effect, Vietnam's agricultural exports to the EU have been changing as Vietnamese enterprises actively boost the export of products being eligible for the preferential treatment under the EVFTA, while the EU partners also prioritizes Vietnamese agricultural products for their competitive price.

In the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, the consumer demand recovery in the EU and the special preferential export tariffs under the EVFTA are supposed to facilitate the competitive advantage of Vietnamese agricultural products in the EU market. However, enterprises should pay attention to product quality, food safety and hygiene, technical barriers, rules of origin and brand development to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products and promote sustainable export to the EU.
