The Canadian Government has again asked the World Trade Organization (COOL) to look into the US' Country of Origin Labeling system. According to a statement issued by International Trade Minister Ed Fast and Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, the US Government continues to engage in unfair, protectionist, trade practices that are detrimental to Canadian industry and jobs. The ministers said that while they had hoped to "avoid having to again resort to the WTO to resolve this matter," they have now asked for a WTO compliance panel to be set up.

ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh has affirmed that the participation of ASEAN member countries in both the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the recently commenced Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will not adversely impact the regional integration process.

At the end of this week, government trade officials will meet in Brunei to begin the 19th round of negotiations in the Trans Pacific Partnership trade talks. Recently, there have been suggestion that the talks are in the "end game" and will be completed by the end of the year. 

SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korea said Wednesday that it plans to file a legal suit with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the U.S. government for imposing heavy anti-dumping duties on its washing machine manufacturers. The move follows a request from South Korean washer makers, whose shipments to the U.S. have been subject to punitive duties since January.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is not a bloc to compete with the ongoing negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said today. "In fact, four Asean members, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Vietnam are in both TPP and RCEP negotiations," he said in a statement after the inaugural meeting of the 16 Ministers of the RCEP participating countries held in Brunei Darussalam yesterday.

NEW DELHI: The US has imposed anti-dumping duty on export of frozen shrimps from India and has also initiated countervailing duty investigations into such exports, Parliament was informed today.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: MANY of the Asean member countries and their six dialogue partners in the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) can help to fine-tune the aims of the ambitions of the new Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), says Indonesia.  Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan said the countries have gone through extensive discussions over in the TPP Agreement (TPPA). 

From this Thursday the 11 countries negotiating the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement–the United States and Japan most important among them–will meet again in Brunei. This session, lasting through the 31st, will be first in which Japan will participate as a full negotiating member.
