On 29/1/2010, in Hanoi, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) organizes a launching event for the Committee on International Trade Policies and the Portal on WTO an Economic Integration (the Committee).

This is also the first meeting of the Committee

The Committee on International Trade Policies

With 30 members who are representatives of business associations in important economic sectors and specialists from competent authorities in charge of making policy and negotiating international commitments, the Committee on International Trade Policies will act as a link, a forum for open discussion and information exchange between the Government and business associations, through which:

• The voice, interests and proposals of industries, enterprises are discussed, made known, and taken into account timely and properly in the process of making policy, negotiating and implementing international commitments.
• Domestic consensus for the process of negotiating international trade commitments could be built and thus their implementation facilitated.
• Business community is well informed of international trade negotiation trends in order to make business strategies with full information as well as protect themselves in the economic integration process.

The Committee on International Trade Policies operates through regular and ad-hoc meetings. The Secretariat of the Committee, located at the WTO Center of VCCI,  is an assistant unit in charge of the Committee’s regular activities between meeting sessions.

The Portal on WTO and Economic Integration

The Portal on WTO and Economic Integration at www.trungtamwto.vn (Vietnamese version) and www.wtocenter.vn (English version) is:

• A focal point for legal documents, updated and information, publications, materials on WTO, international trade agreements that Vietnam has signed or is negotiating as well as other legal issues of international economic integration. The specificity of this source of information is that all information therein is organized, processed, summarized and explained in manner that meets demand and level of understanding of enterprises.
• A channel of online consultation, discussion and support for enterprises and business associations about WTO and international trade policies.
• A place for information exchange, discussion about activities of the Committee on International Trade Policies and other events of the Program “Enterprises and International Trade Policies” of VCCI.

Information collecting, analyzing, processing and online consultation at the Portal on WTO and Economic Integration are undertaken by the WTO Center of VCCI.
