On May 31, 2023, the State of Washington (USA) issued a Regulation restricting the use of halogenated organic flame retardants in plastic enclosures of electronic devices sold in the state. This regulation applies to various electronic items such as televisions, laptops, mobile phones, kitchen appliances, washing machines, irons, coffee makers, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, etc.
Recognizing the potential impact of this regulation on businesses in the industry and on the export of electronic products to the US market, the Vietnam Electronics Industry Association (VEIA) has conducted an impact assessment report entitled "Assessing the Impact of Washington State's (USA) Regulation on the Restriction of Flame Retardants and its Potential Impact on Vietnam's Electronics Exports."
Therefore, the Association respectfully submits the Report for your reference, so that you can take appropriate and timely measures to support Vietnamese electronics businesses that are currently exporting or have plans to export to the US.
